Carnival is a very important event in Boa Vista. The preparations for Carnival usually start a year before, with costumes, carts, dances, music.
These months are the most windy ones, which makes it the perfect season for kite and windsurf.
April
Humpback whales swim to the area as the water increases temperature.
They often show themselves in a spectacular way as they jump out of the water. If you go diving you may be lucky to hear the whales singing.
June
The water is fully warmed up and the wind has calmed down, which makes the sea calm and perfect for diving, snorkeling and game fishing. The Santa Cruz celebrations in the first week of May, bring a week full of festivities with sports, cultural programs and live music.
August
In July and August the turtles lay
eggs on the beach. In August there is a 3 day music Festival.
Between the end of August and the beginning of September, you might witness the egg hatching.
Turtle eggs are hatched and the beach is filled by baby turtles crawling towards the sea.
These are the best months to make long excursions as the temperature reduces. Watch the Full Moon in the Viana Desert or sleep in a tent in the dunes of Chavez and enjoy the tranquility.
As the wind increases, these months are the best for kitesurfing and wind surfing.
In the beginning of December there is the Boa Vista 150km Ultramarathon.
